User Personalization

Customize your Avara experience with personalized theme settings. Configure dark mode or light mode to match your preferences and working environment.

Every user has different preferences when it comes to their working environment. Some prefer the clean, bright appearance of light mode, while others find dark mode easier on the eyes during extended sessions. We’ve made theme personalization a core feature across all Avara products–AutoScribe, Viewer, and Clinical Platform–so you can work in the environment that’s most comfortable for you.

Research consistently shows that user interface preferences vary significantly based on individual needs, work environment, and even the type of work being performed. In clinical settings, we’ve observed distinct patterns:

  • Radiologists and diagnostic readers often prefer dark mode when reviewing images, as it reduces eye strain during extended reading sessions and provides better contrast when viewing DICOM studies in dimly lit reading rooms
  • Administrative users and practice managers frequently prefer light mode for tasks involving documentation, scheduling, and data entry, where brighter interfaces can improve readability

Rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach, we’ve made theme configuration available to every user. Your preference is saved to your account and persists across sessions, devices, and browsers.

Switching between dark mode and light mode takes just a few seconds:

When logged in to any Avara product, locate the profile icon in the top-right corner of the header.

Profile icon in the header

Click the profile icon to open your account settings. Scroll to the bottom of the panel where you’ll find the Dark Mode toggle.

Dark Mode toggle switch

Toggle the switch to your preferred setting and save your changes. The application theme will update instantly across the entire interface.

Theme personalization is available across all Avara products:

  • AutoScribe – Dictation interface, worklist, and all reporting views
  • Viewer – DICOM viewer interface and toolbar
  • Clinical Platform – Settings, user management, and administrative views

Your theme preference syncs across products, so you only need to set it once.
