## Introduction

Section Severity Classifications elevate the patient and referring provider experience by making reports more interpretable and accessible. Each section in your report can receive a severity classification that provides a clear mental anchor for understanding how significant a finding is.

Radiological language can be difficult to interpret, and findings often come with no explanation of what they mean or how significant they are. Section classifications solve this by providing an excellent mental anchor for those reading the report — easing anxiety with non-critical findings or creating a sense of urgency for critical findings.

This feature is a low-hanging fruit improvement that’s first of its kind, made possible by AutoScribe’s modern report templates. Section severity classifications can be completely bypassed and not used if preferred by the reader — there is no degradation in report aesthetic or performance when classifications are omitted.

## Severity Classifications

Each section can be classified with one of five severity levels, or left unclassified:

| Classification         | Description                                                                                                                |
| ---------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| None Selected          | Opt out of contextualizing sections if that is your practice’s or reader’s preference.                                     |
| No Adverse Findings    | Normal anatomy & physiology with nothing worth noting.                                                                     |
| Informational Findings | Typically for non-actionable content like normal anatomical variants.                                                      |
| Mild Findings          | Semi-actionable findings requiring minimal interventions or lifestyle adjustments.                                         |
| Moderate Findings      | Actionable findings requiring follow-up, potentially more involved interventions, or near-immediate lifestyle adjustments. |
| Severe Findings        | Actionable findings requiring immediate follow-up & involved interventions.                                                |

## Usage

To classify a section, you can use either voice commands or the dropdown menu:

- **Voice commands**: Within a particular section, say “Classify no adverse”, “Classify informational”, “Classify mild”, “Classify moderate”, or “Classify severe”
- **Dropdown selection**: Select the classification from the dropdown menu in each section

Section severity classifications are entirely optional. If you prefer not to use them, you can skip classification entirely with no impact on report quality or functionality.
